He seems like he&#039;s starting with a real apology--he uses those words--but then instantly he slides into How It Affected Me (&quot;I am embarrassed and humiliated&quot;!) and the passive voice relegation of actual blame to &quot;some of the people on my team&quot; and &quot;the conduct that they exhibited.&quot; Whose primary deleterious effect was, apparently, the humiliation of Chris Christie. I don&#039;t see where he even does the token &quot;I was their leader, so the fault is ultimately mine&quot; phrase, let alone something more specific like &quot;I somehow led people on my staff to believe this was okay with me, and going forward I will make sure my staff is clear that blah blah etc.&quot; To me the main thrust of that statement is &quot;my staff did a terrible thing and it embarrassed me personally.&quot;]]></description>
