We live outside of Alameda County and I’ve been head-down in revision-land so I hadn’t heard of this. I am really grateful for the tree guy for taking responsibility, because, duh: can’t miss these birds when they colonize a tree, hello. It’s just egregiously disingenuous to say they “didn’t know” the birds were there. As for “wouldn’t we see blood?” — oy.
