So she may have been wise not to have made a good apology under the circumstances. (And she may have been given legal advice to that effect.)

That may have been the best she could do….

If you say exactly *what* your sorry for at this stage in a criminal proceeding, you might be foreclosing an avenue of appeal.

We know that sometimes innocent persons might accept a plea bargain (often under stress); we also know that under some circumstanes a plea bargain or the subsequent sentence can be appealed.

So, she’s sorry for all the grief. I think that’s clear. She may
even be sorry she or someone she knows fired five shots through her parents’ bedroom window, but for now that hand stays close to her chest.
