The ironic part here is they want to hide all the so-called fat athletes because they’re not emulating a “healthy lifestyle,” whatever that means, and yet they want run-of-the-mill fat people to exercise. Why would we stick our necks out and go out in public and get exercise when all we ever see exercising are thin people? I’m speaking in extreme hypotheticals here–fat people do exercise. But it would be psychologically easier to take up the practice if we didn’t have to feel like we were the only fat individuals out there jogging or biking or whatever.

I think it’s ridiculous to make fun of fat people for exercising outside or at the gym for the same reason. Society has concrete visual evidence that we’re doing something about the problem but it’s going to mock us? Really?

I don’t think they know what the hell they are talking about. I wish they’d just come out and say “I don’t want to look at fat people ’cause they gross me out” and be done with it ’cause it’s so obvious that’s where they’re coming from.

It’s like these guys have never seen pro tennis before. Most of the women who win, especially in the last 30 years, aren’t string-bean model types, like Sharapova, but thick and muscular like Serena Williams, Martina Navratilova and Lindsay Davenport. And some formerly skinny champions like Chris Evert and Jennifer Capriati trained hard to put on weight so they could stay in the game. Nobody with a brain has ever complained about any of them not being “fit”.
