Hang on: “heretic” doesn’t mean disbeliever! It means someone who believes, but incorrectly. If you believe in Jesus through an organized religion, but think he had a girlfriend, well, that’s a heretical belief.

I dunno, I don’t see “infidel” as a synonym for unbeliever; it has WAY TOO MUCH historical baggage, and was aimed at Moorish and Arabic peoples for far too long. Heretics, at least, have no ethnic associations, although, offensive, heck yeah! I kinda like “heathen,” but that’s mainly because my mother called me a heathen for much of my life. (Ditto Philistine, though technically, that’s Biblical, and almost good as being called a heathen.) Pagans are real – I mean, it’s a real belief system; ask the folk in the UK dancing around with antlers on their heads around Solstice, so he COULD have said that, but I don’t know if there are all that many pagans in Canada – I’m sure there are at least some.

Remember back in the day (Okay, arguably, before the day when any of us were born) when polite people didn’t discuss either religion or politics? We have to be careful when we talk about both now. It’s not as if we speak, on the internets, into a vacuum – especially someone with political connections should be savvier than that. If it’s “really your choice, and I respect your choice,” then you kinda gotta speak with respect – for reals.

That being said, I’d like to touch on the question of eggnogg. The answer is, clearly, NO.
