As an equine veterinarian I risk offending some of my patient’s and their owners by saying this. But with pre-apologies where they may alleviate insult…that man is a proverbial (but not phylogenetic) JACKASS!

Nothing he says now can change that.

It always astounds me when someone needs, like, a heads-up on the Obvious Things That Are Not Okay list. I mean, REALLY!?

Although, any excuse to talk about Wanda Sykes is a good excuse.

I agree that he surely didn’t draft the last apology. But if someone else wrote it for him and he stands behind it, I think he gets credit for it.

Of course, I am only saying this because I did not write my own marriage vows….

Agreeing with Kim. I’d love to do a textual comparison between writing style of Hansen’s first few statements and that of the final actual apology. They’re nothing alike, and I believe Hansen shouldn’t be given any credit for it at all.

I’ma differ with you about it being a decent apology. “There is no place or need in the public discourse for the words I used” — dude, the word “vagina” was not the problem. Vagina, vagina, vagina. It’s a lovely word for a lovely thing! The equation of women = vagina IS the problem. Saying “children and vaginas” (or to be fair to his initial incoherence, “vagina’s”) means that women to him are only the sum of their part, the part men enjoy putting weenuses in and legislating about. Given Republicans’ obsession with this particular body part, to say that’s ALL we are seems pretty honest of this guy. Don’t apologize for using the perfectly good word; apologize for believing the sentiment.
