Possibly because it sounds more macho to say &quot;We [verb]ed the  perp&quot; than it does to say &quot;We informed the perp that he/she was [verb]ing and should do x.&quot; Medicine also does this; they say that they &quot;intubated&quot; or &quot;extubated&quot; a patient rather than that they placed or removed a breathing tube into/from said patient.]]></description>
