The camp put all their eggs in one basket, and relied on one person. What if that one person had an accident or got sick or something? An entire camp of people (hopefully) learned a very valuable lesson that year. Hopefully those individuals come better prepared in future.

I think the apology about drunkenly and carelessly driving an art car is far worse, as they are endangering the lives of others!
