Bono is shocked that he is forced by circumstances to apologize for his art.

U2 did a Q&A on their Facebook page.

One fan asked: “Can you please never release an album on iTunes that automatically downloads to people’s playlists ever again? It’s really rude.”

Bono’s response (transcribed from Rolling Stone because I cannot listen to Bono talk unless I’m pretending it’s Ben Stiller doing a Bono impression):

“Oops … I’m sorry about that. I had this beautiful idea … might have gotten carried away with ourselves. Artists are prone to that kind of thing. A drop of megalomania, a touch of generosity, a dash of self-promotion, and deep fear that these songs that we poured our life into over the last few years mightn’t be heard. There’s a lot of noise out there. I guess we got a little noisy ourselves to get through it.”

An Irish graffiti trend. For real.

An Irish graffiti trend. For real.

As correctly translated by tipster/Friend of SorryWatch Colin Lingle: “This is an incredibly annoying Artist’s SorryNotSorry: ‘We were a little too generous, and we’re sorry for wanting people to hear this music we had poured a little too much of our souls into.'”

I don’t really have anything to add to that. Except this.
