Well, what’s so awful about this? Sending the tooth under the pillow is a transaction. She can’t hold up her end of the transaction and offers the apology instead of the tooth. No?
I get the impression that this is more of a plea for clarification on the powers of the tooth fairy. It is generally understood that one must leave the “lost” tooth under one’s pillow and, only after clearly communicating this to one’s parents, the tooth will be replaced with something in the way of a small treasure. But to what extent the tooth fairy is capable of retrieving the “lost” tooth from alternate locations, such as the stomach cavity, is somewhat unknown. Does the tooth fairy have a particular use for the tooth, or is she/he more interested in celebrating this manifestation of maturity?
